The Eastern Shore....

Sunday, July 12, 2009
I love the Eastern Shore. Besides it's natural beauty of waterways and coastal marshlands, it is all about a lifestyle and a culture for me. I enjoyed this article in the New York Times today. It highlights some of things I love best about this area.

Retro time.....

You may have noticed that I enjoy finding and looking at retro pin up art. Apparently a number of my blog readers enjoy them too. Here is another one that I like.

Perhaps a bit of summer irrelevance

We love the beach. And my wife loves bikinis. I love my beautiful wife in bikinis. It really seems like a good match to me.
While shopping online this morning, I stumbled upon this YouTube video. Besides showcasing a young beautiful Ford bikini model, it does reveal some of the mindset that goes into wearing these bikinis......

Bonus smile.........

This put a smile on my face...............

What just happened?

Ally and I had a nice Saturday. We went out for some drinks and had a nice dinner out. We came home and had a few drinks and listened to some music. Then we retired to the bedroom and I flipped around the channels and ended up watching Geraldo. Yes, that Geraldo. I rarely watch Fox and only do so for balance. But what he reported and everyone else has been since really just seemed almost too fantastic.
  1. Three police officers murdered in Pittsburgh.
  2. Four children found murdered in a home near Tacoma after their dead father was found in a neighboring community.
  3. More information on the Binghampton rampage.
  4. And there was the ICBM or Rocket launch by North Korea.
  5. And some crazy wildfires.................
It almost all seemed too fantastic to be real. Is something occurring here that we are all missing. Is something in play? I know that I had a few beers on board but it almost seemed like I was watching a Stephen King made for TV movie.

Jeep girls....it's a Jeep thing?

Who knew? I had no idea that girls went for Jeeps. I knew about biker chicks and their Harley's and their guys with Harley's. And of course there is the whole boat thing. Buy a boat. Go into debt. Girls flock to boat. Girls get naked. Girls have fun. Boy gets further into debt.

But Jeeps? I suppose I missed this whole thing. And it appears that it has been going on for quite a while too.
Maybe I should look into a Jeep. They cost less than a boat! ;)

For the guy with truly .....everything.........

This is a support vehicle. Technically it is a Yacht Escort Ship. It is manufactured by Yacht Escort Ships, International. of Seattle. It's purpose is to provide support to those with mega yachts. As you can see from the picture, the term support is broadly defined. Click on the above picture and take a close look at what is stored on this ............. ship.I suppose she has been created to support this type of .....................do I dare say boat?

Shades of the Cuban Missel Crisis

I found this little story on CNN.com and other news outlets this morning. It just made me think of another new, popular, young and untested President who once had to face a situation created by another nation thinking of using our neighbor to the south for a staging area for their own military objectives. I certainly hope this little potential minefield is quickly diffused before it becomes something more troubling. Hopefully, this nothing more than diplomatic chest pounding in hopes of averting similar placement of US assets overseas. CNN Russian strategic bombers could use Cuba airfields
MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- Russia expressed interest in using Cuban airfields during patrol missions of its strategic bombers, Russia's Interfax news agency reported
"There are four or five airfields in
Cuba with 4,000-meter-long runways, which absolutely suit us," Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev told Interfax.
Zhikharev, who is the chief of staff of the
Russian Air Force's long-range aviation, said, "If the two chiefs of state display such a political will, we are ready to fly there."
Zhikharev also told Interfax that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered a military airfield on La Orchila island as a temporary base for Russian strategic bombers.
"If a relevant political decision is made, this is possible," he said, according to Interfax. Zhikharev said he visited La Orchila in 2008 and can confirm that with minor reconstruction, the airfield owned by a local naval base can accept fully-loaded Russian strategic bombers.

I want to go to there!

First, I want to give a big does of credit to Tina Fey for sharing with all of us her own daughter's cute comment, that of course has played so well on 30 Rock.Even though the east coast is enjoying a bit of February thaw of sorts, I am so wishing that Ally and I were someone warm, sunny and fun! Here are my two top picks for this still cold Sunday afternoon:
St. John, USVI
Our constitution applies there.
And for just crazy fun........Key West, FL
And look how close to Cuba it is!
Both of these places are far more carefree than where we are from, but Key West does have the advantage of being a huge party town with a saucy and sinful side with a great history. And then there is that whole Fantasy Fest thing........I think Ally would like that a lot! I know that I would. I wonder if she would try something like this?
Of course, what vacation wouldn't be complete without my best friend in a new bikini or two? Wicked Weasel is my first bikini choice for this little Sunday Fantasy.
This little cover up / dress seems like the perfect thing for cocktails after a long day at the beach. I think it would appeal to Ally's exhibitionist side, especially after a couple of rum drinks in paradise. And as much as I like this white bikini, I am not sure Ally would buy into this when it gets wet.
Thanks for indulging me. Now time to get back to reality and all that Sunday stuff to do!

Nat Geo Air Force One Special

Earlier this week, the National Geographic channel rolled out their special about Air Force One titled On Board Air Force One. The outgoing President Bush 43 and the incoming President Obama granted the camera crews from Nat Geo unprecedented access to the Air Force One fleet and to a couple of very high profile missions. As a viewer, we actually get to witness the new President stepping aboard for the first time last week. This is a great documentary! If you have a chance, and even if you don' t have the the time, tune in and take a peek.
